A Quick Guide To Fashion Art

Art and fashion will always go hand in hand. It may be appropriate to refer to fashion designers as fashion artists as their creations are often inspired by works of art. If you want to explore art, do not forget to check out the fashion designers’ work too – textiles art is just as creative as paintings! There are even jewellery design ideas that are art-based too, made by the finest jewellery artisans. 1) Stella McCartney is a prominent British fashion designer. She took inspiration from George Stubb’s 1770 painting ‘A Horse frightened by a Lion’ to inspire her luxury fashion design. The image was digitally printed onto a gown, shirt and trousers for an interesting look. These fashion clothes for women are intricate and more detailed than the high street looks. 2) Another great example is the ‘Gucci Hallucination’ collection. This is a great example of ‘creative vs innovative’ work – the collection takes primary inspiration from Old Masters paintings. This cultural art mixed with fashion clothes design is spectacular. Designed in collaboration with Spanish artist Ignasi Monreal, the project shows luxury living with old painting images creating a twist. 3) For jewellery lovers, The Met sells Erté inspired geometric earrings. These art deco style pieces feature geometric art design and celebrate the work of Romain de Tirtoff (better known as Erté). 4) Designer Diane Von Furstenburg has also taken inspiration from an original artist. The fall 2017 collection referenced Gilles Larrain’s 1973 photo book ‘Idols’. This curated art offers clashing patterns and quirky styling – creating unique designer dresses like never seen before. 5) A different take on the fashion and art crossover is Moschino’s Picasso inspired collection. Director Jeremy Scott creates some great surrealism artwork by transferring ladies’ clothes brand to the surrealism art movement. Some models are even seen wearing giant picture frames, big shapes are key to this fashion show runway. 6) The Met has another great earrings design for ladies. This pair is based on the Renaissance style, adapted from a jewelled frame surrounding a miniature portrait of Margaret More (1505-1544). These are made of precious metals gold (14K gold plate) and glass stones. 7) Jil Sanders has also made this curated list, as an original artist, she focused on the minimalism movement. Using mostly the primary color chart and colour blocking clothes creates striking looks. These luxury items are very
